Around Severna Park: 'The littlest angels' put on a Christmas show
Twenty-one angels lined up at the entrance of the sanctuary and, on Wee Center Director Judy Meyer's signal, marched up the center aisle to the music of "The Little Drummer Boy." Led by "real life drummer boy" Nick Priest, they proceeded to a nativity scene at the front of the church.
The production began with Wee Center teachers acting as narrators and small groups of angels coined "twinkles," "sparkles" and "cherubs" singing songs. But the littlest angels' main task was to hold gold and silver stars aloft to guide the way to Bethlehem. There, Mary and Joseph, played by Phoebe Ward and Connor Kemezis, cradled the baby Jesus in a manger.
Drawn by the stars, shepherds Aaron Bramble, Luke Byerly, Jackson Palmer, Jack Reese and Indy Van Zandt proceeded down the aisle to join them. Following the stars were wise men Benji Beisler, Dimitri Bordone and Finn Denman who approached bearing gifts. The play concluded with the children singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and "It's Christmas Time" and their procession back down the aisle.
