“It’s difficult to keep everybody in class and not too excited,” Tanner Principal Billy Owens said. “I think Coach (Laron) White needs a little time to prepare, but I think the community and parents and students are ready to go play right now — they’re that excited about it.”

Both schools have hired separate charter buses for the teams, bands and cheerleaders. Berry said tickets to ride an additional charter bus for parents will cost $16.50, and there also may be seats available on the cheerleader bus.

“We want as many people as can to come and support these kids on Thursday,” he said.

Owens said some parents will ride with Tanner’s cheerleaders, and he expects to fill additional school buses with students, depending on how many bring in a signed release form and the $10 fee to ride.

“Most kids will pay way more than that to get to leave school at 10 o’clock and go watch some football at Bryant-Denny Stadium, so I’d be very surprised if we didn’t have more than one bus going,” he said.
