That’s the essential mission of the community-based Circle Circle dot dot, which launched last summer (this is its second production).

There’s a certain loose-limbed, disarming charm to “Ragnarok,” named for a big annual LARP festival in Ohio. The word itself translates to “end of days,” and while Armageddon does not quite visit itself upon the play’s would-be wizards and elves and orcs over the course of the story, the characters do wind up fighting romantic and personal battles as well as those of the foam-padded-broadsword variety.

Our guide to the saga is Neil (funny and engaging Patrick Kelly), who describes in retrospect his time with a LARP crew he founded with three buddies. The young men (all but one of whom still live at home) are fans of indoor role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons but are a little uneasy at taking their geekery out into the big wide world.

That’s especially true of Danny, a high-strung perfectionist whose portrayal by James P. Darvas brings an edgy energy to the show.

My four year old enjoys the jacket and helmet but does not play with the toy fire extinguisher, toy bullhorn, name tag or badge. The jacket has three velcro tabs on the front to keep it closed. The jacket is machine washable and is trimmed with reflective material. The back of the jacket says “Fire Chief”. The jacket was a bit smaller than I thought. My son is four and is of average weight and the jacket is a little on the snug side. The helmet is adjustable. This has held up well to normal play. The cost is normally around thirty dollars.

I bought this for my 3 year old to wear for Halloween and have for dress up for a while to come. It is nice quality, the jacket is flexible and soft – not plastic. The helmet is heavier duty than his other fireman’s helmet and can be adjusted for size. The props are fun. They don’t stay in the velcro loops all that well, but what 3 year old would leave them there for long anyway? The siren sound effect on the loudspeaker isn’t appallingly loud and it’s fun. That’s what it’s all about.

I was so impressed with the quality of this dress-up item. It is made from a heavy fabric, has real cloth covered buttons, and is super durable. This is not the typical dress up item, made from cheap, fabrics that fray, pill, or tear out after only a few times playng with them. This is top quality! My kids love it and play with it often. It has been a great addition to their kitchen and food playsets, and it has inspired hours of imaginative play! Would recommend to anyone.
