Milford police say residents should be wary of a man and a woman going door to door saying they are selling pies as part of a local school fund-raiser.

According to police, East Shore Middle School did hold a pie fund-raiser, but it ended Oct. 21.

Now, police are hot on the trail of the adult couple who have reportedly taken $15 per pie from people, with no intention of delivering. Authorities are asking for residents’ help in the investigation.

Police and school officials received inquiries recently regarding the two adults selling pies. Several residents said they paid for pies from the couple, but then got suspicious.

“The legitimacy of these transactions was questioned by some of the residents, which revealed that these activities were being conducted after the fundraiser deadline date of October 21,” said Police Spokesman Jeff Nielsen. “School representatives indicated that there were no arrangements made authorizing pie sales after the deadline date.
