Bronwyn Scott joins HEA today to tell us about the Harlequin Hussies (yes, you read that right) and their holiday Advent Calendar contest, the Harlequin Historical Undone stories (tagline: Sexy & Scandalous Short Stories), and why she also writes under the name Nikki Poppen .
HEA: Welcome, Bronwyn. Who are the Harlequin Hussies and how did you become a member?
Bronwyn: The Hussies are an online group of authors who all write for the Harlequin Historical line. The group is meant to be a place where we can support each other. We live all over the world — Australia, the U.S., Canada and Britain — so an online group is a great way to stay connected. We use the website to talk about our current writing projects with each other, ask quick research questions and to keep each other posted on developments regarding the publishing industry, especially developments at Harlequin.
“Calendar Guys” Show That Real Men Love Cats
Handsome men and the cats they love. They’re pictured lifting weights, riding motorcycles, wearing their law-enforcement uniforms, and showing off their chiseled good looks — all with their cats in tow.
Award-winning fashion photographer Adam Bouska took all the pictures, and the quality of his work shows through in each page. The publisher is donating $1 from each calendar sold in retail outlets, and the Found Animals Foundation has bought 10,000 of the calendars to donate to Los Angeles-area cat rescue nonprofits.
We all know that real men love cats, and I’m glad the Found Animals Foundation has decided to spread that truth to the world at large. “Our 14 calendar hunks couldn’t imagine their lives without feline companionship, and encourage everyone to adopt a cat from their local animal shelter or rescue group,” the group says.
I couldn’t imagine being friends with a guy who didn’t love — or at the very least, respect — cats. Maybe that makes me a crazy cat lady, but if that’s the case, I’ll wear that label with pride. I’d much rather look at good-looking dudes and the cats that love them than have a bunch of dust-gathering “limited edition” collector cat plates hanging on my wall!...
